ItemLa biblioterapia en el estado emocional de adultos mayores, experiencias en el centro gerontológico Guillermina Loor de Moreno de Portoviejo(Universidad Técnica de Manabí, 2022) Castro Castro, Helen YamilethBibliotherapy is a reading strategy directed and addressed by information professionals to improve the emotional, physical or psychological state of people in conditions of vulnerability, whether they are older adults, hospital patients, children's homes, recovery groups, women in situations of violence, people deprived of their liberty, among others. The objective of this work is to analyze the behavior of older adults at the Guillermina Loor de Moreno Gerontological Center in the city of Portoviejo, based on a reading animation program framed in the dynamics of bibliotherapy. The implemented methodology was descriptive with a mixed approach, that is, qualitative and quantitative. Subsequently, the technique of the observation sheet and survey with the Likert scale was applied, where 30 older adults who were in asylum participated. For the application of bibliotherapy, poems, stories and legends typical of Manabí, a province characterized by its montuvian culture, were selected. In this framework, dialogues were also carried out on the content of the narratives and in some cases, to stimulate their brain, the participants had to fill out word search puzzles and crossword puzzles. The results showed that bibliotherapy is a tool that can help improve the quality of life of older adults who are in the institution, developing in them new skills and knowledge that were acquired during the time of therapy, that is why it has great importance. It is important to establish reading activities to generate moments of entertainment.
