    ADHERENCIA AL TRATAMIENTO NUTRICIONAL EN PACIENTES JÓVENES CON SÍNDROME METABÓLICO, HOSPITAL GUSTAVO DOMÍNGUEZ ZAMBRANO

    Metabolic syndrome is a public health problem that affects the entire population worldwide influenced by several factors such as; the increasing technological and industrial progress that leads to sedentary lifestyle, excessive consumption of hypercaloric foods in addition to genetics. The work carried out is a descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional investigation, which aimed to assess adherence to nutritional treatment in young patients with metabolic syndrome treated in an outpatient clinic at Gustavo Domínguez Zambrano Hospital. The sample that was taken into account for this study, were 57 subjects of both sexes who attended external nutrition consultation in the month of October-November and who at the time of the investigation were on a dietary prescription. The 57 people participated in a survey to measure the level of adherence to nutritional treatment; In addition, the factors that influence the level of adherence to said dietary treatment were determined. The results obtained on the level of adherence to treatment were 37% fully adhered and 63% partially adhered. The factors that influence the level of adherence to nutritional treatment were those related to the economic availability of the patient, as well as the customs and occupations of the patients make it difficult to follow the nutritional indications. In addition, it was evidenced that the patient is not convinced of nutritional therapy and its benefit despite being interested in his health condition.
