Maintaining good mental health is one of the great challenges of the current population; when there is an imbalance, it is necessary to search for professionals who accompany them to mitigate them. The objective of the article is to identify the prevalence of psychological care demand among the inhabitants of the city of Portoviejo. The research is quantitative - qualitative, a survey was applied to 264 inhabitants between 18 and 45 years of the city of Portoviejo and interview to 10 Clinical Psychologists; as a result, it was found that the population has a latent demand for difficulties related to mental health; However, it does not recognize the existence of the same and therefore does not seek the intervention of a professional in the area. This work demonstrates the need to educate people on issues of prevention and promotion of mental health in order to achieve individual and social well-being.
