    El acceso abierto a la información: a propósito de los recursos de información de acceso abierto en el área de comunicación

    The objective of this work was to analyze the open access news resources available to fourth-semester students of the Communication career at the Universidad Laica Eloy Alfaro de Manabí in the period October 2021-February 2022. In this way, from a methodological approach based on a mixed qualitative-quantitative, descriptive approach and from a bibliographic-documentary approach investigates open access to information in the areas of communication; In addition, the policies that open access requires for the use of information in terms of academic activities in higher education are addressed. The technique that was used to collect the information was the survey, an instrument that was applied to the students in question. In this context, open access to information has been one of the most important issues in the academic development of students, since this becomes a fundamental tool at an academic and professional level, being a primary source of information that is verified and which is also of common benefit to the students and the authors of these documents. In this way, it is intended to elaborate a diagnosis on the use made by Communication students of open access resources in the study center in question. For this, it has been considered that, with open access to information, education seeks to democratize this educational content and proposes that the ways in which it is produced and distributed generate knowledge.

    Promoción de la lectura en los estudiantes de la carrera de ingeniería eléctrica de la universidad técnica de Manabí.

    The promotion of reading is a social practice aimed at transforming the way of conceiving, valuing, imagining and using reading. The aim is to promote this practice as a space for the production of new senses and to foster the encounter between readers and reading materials. In this context, the purpose of this research lies in the fact of analyzing the strategies of promotion of reading from the perspective of library science in students of the Career of Electrical Engineering of the Technical University of Manabí in the semester may-September 2021. From a mixed, qualitative and quantitative perspective, this study aims to determine the functions, characteristics and importance of the promotion of reading, and emphasizes how the techniques and methodological strategies of this initiative are interrelated to improve these processes. Therefore, and considering the importance of the university library, this study investigates a current problem aimed at transforming the way of conceiving, valuing, imagining and using reading in the population group addressed.
