Literary cafes represent ideal spaces for intellectual sociability on the practice of
reading, so that they end up becoming important cultural references in the communities
where they are located. For this reason, the general objective of this research is to
propose the implementation of a Literary Café in the Library "Mons. Luis Alfredo
Carvajal Rosales" of the House of Culture Núcleo Manabí as a space to promote
reading. For this, an analytical-descriptive approach methodology was carried out, the
interview was used to diagnose the animation spaces available in the library, and then
the information was contrasted using observation. As a result of the diagnosis, some
deficiencies were detected that affect the effectiveness of the library's reading
promotion activities. The implementation of a literary café was finalized as a novel
strategy to encourage reading, with the realization of a guide of activities in a
recreational environment aimed at the Manabí community.
