ItemDEPRESIÓN EN ADULTOS MAYORES DE LA FUNDACIÓN UNA VIDA CON PROPÓSITO(Universidad Técnica de Manabí, 2021) MORALES PACHAY, CRISTINA GEOVANNA ; ALCÍVAR MOLINA, SILVIO ALEJANDRODepression is a common disorder in the elderly and causes high costs for the elderly, their families and public health institutions. Health personnel often downplay depressive symptoms in older adults, thinking that they are normal due to aging. The objective of this research study is to establish the levels of depression in the elderly of the Foundation for a Life with Purpose. The total population for this research was 20 elderly adults. The main instrument used to collect the information is the Yesavage Geriatric Depression Scale, which focuses on aspects related to mood. The results show that the new adaptations left by the pandemic such as confinement, loneliness, the family's little interest in the elderly and other factors have triggered depression in older adults manifesting it with sadness, anger, pessimism, anergy, anhedonia, decrease or increased sleep and appetite.
