VIOLENCIA Y MUJER: UN ESTUDIO DE LA REALIDAD

Abstract

Gender violence is a large-scale phenomenon that undoubtedly grows considerably, not only affects women, but also a whole population. The little or no knowledge on the part of the society constitutes one of the causal entities of this problem, the present article has like objective to identify the perception and the existent knowledge in relation to the violence against the woman in the students of the Educational Unit Abdón Calderón from the Portoviejo canton. The methodology is based on a descriptive cross-sectional study of a quantitative-qualitative nature. The selected sample was 143 students, to whom was applied the Inventory on perception of violence and a survey of basic knowledge on gender violence. The results reveal that 36.1% have little knowledge on this subject that is intrinsically linked to the perception that we have about gender violence where there is a marked difference between men and women in terms of the variables studied. In the end, it was found that 25.2% who do not have knowledge about gender violence agree with machismo, sexism and acts of violence.
