Item"ASESORAMIENTO TÉCNICO PARA LA IMPLEMENTACIÓN DE UNA CERCA PARA CABRAS EN EL CENTRO EXPERIMENTAL #1 DE LA FACULTAD DE CIENCIAS VETERINARIAS, EN LA PARROQUIA LODANA DEL CANTÓN SANTA ANA"(MEDICO VETERINARIO, 2023)The objective of this work is to provide technical advice on the design and implementation of a fence for goats in the experimental center No. 1 of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences. The degree work began with visits to the area with the tutor and construction specialists to Determine the size and then make the design for the fence. After this, the cleaning and leveling of the land was carried out with the help of a caterpillar-type backhoe. The following week, a second cleaning of the established area was continued, but this was done manually with the help of machetes. Once the area to be built was cleaned, the next step was taking measurements, marking the distance between stakes, and then drilling with the help of a manual hole opener and thus placing a Guachapelí wooden stake in each hole, which had measuring 2x2 square meters and the rolls of electro-welded mesh measuring 1.50 square meters. The fence was built to guarantee the well-being and comfort of the goats, a door was implemented to facilitate their entry and exit. Completing the work in the fourth week, in which we deliver the finished work to the authorities of the institution in the presence of the dean of the Faculty and the tutor in charge of the project, attaching the invoices as part of the evidence of the completion of the project title. Item"DIAGNÓSTICO DE MYCOBACTERIUM SPP. EN EL CENTRO FAENAMIENTO DEL CANTÓN SANTA ANA DE LA PROVINCIA DE MANABÍ"(MEDICO VETERINARIO, 2023)Bovine tuberculosis is an infectious and zoonotic disease, considered a notifiable disease, because it is widely distributed in cattle worldwide, causing economic losses in livestock production, trade restrictions, death of the animal and is a potential risk to human health. The main objective of this study was “To determine, through Ziehl-Neelsen staining, the presence of Mycobacterium spp. in the lymph nodes with lesions compatible with bovine tuberculosis, of the carcasses of cattle slaughtered in the slaughtering center of the Santa Ana canton and relate it to the variables under study. This research was carried out in 2 phases, the first was the field carried out in the slaughter center of the Santa Ana canton, analyzing the slaughtered cattle, and samples of lymph nodes and lungs that presented lesions typical of bovine tuberculosis were taken. data such as age, sex, and body condition, in the month of March, a period in which 87 animals arrived. The second phase consisted of the processing of the samples taken, where the most affected part of these nodes and lungs was sown in specific culture media for the growth of Mycobacterium spp., Ziehl-Neelsen staining was also performed to determine the presence of AFB (Acid Alcohol Resistant Bacilli). The results obtained were 15 animals that showed colony growth after the weeks of observation (it is worth mentioning that there was more colony growth in the Stonebrink culture medium than in the Ogawa Kudoh culture medium), these 15 animals with growth Ziehl-Neelsen staining was performed, where 5 animals were positive for Mycobacterium spp. of 44 bovines sampled: once these data were analyzed, the prevalence of this study was obtained, giving 11.36%, considered a high prevalence. And, on the other hand, the proportion of slaughtered cattle with typical bovine tuberculosis lesions was 50.6% (44/87). Based on the results obtained, the presence of AFB is concluded, which is a main characteristic of Mycobacterium spp., in the slaughtered cattle corresponding to the slaughter center of the Santa Ana canton. The macroscopic lesions were compatible with the typical lymph node lesions at the bovine tuberculosis.
