Abstract
200 mixed chickens of the Cobb 500 line were used, from their birth to 42 days of age, to evaluate the inclusion of cassava foliage meal in diets for broilers, at levels of 3%, 6%, 9%, as an alternative to the increase in the price of corn in the national and world market. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was carried out, according to the simple classification design, with a control treatment and with three treatments with levels 3%, 6%, 9% of cassava foliage flour and twenty repetitions. The final weight at 42 days was not significantly different (P <0.05), but the treatment with 9% cassava foliage flour had the best performance (2,570 g / bird) with respect to the control (2,500 g / bird). The feed conversion did differ between treatments (1.90 and 2.04). In the control treatment there was a greater weight of the edible portions (P <0.05) than in the treatments with the levels of cassava foliage flour: carcass weight (1,998; 1,992; 1,940 and 1,930 g / bird), yield at the carcass (73.4%, 70.6%, 70.6% and 70%) and the percentage of abdominal fat (1.94%, 2.03%, 1.99% and 2.06%). The main attractants were the quality of the meat (toughness, aroma and flavor) and the positive economic results that were achieved in the cost / benefit relationship where the treatment with a higher level of inclusion of cassava foliage flour, obtained a gain of $ 0.18 per dollar invested
