Abstract
The main objective of this research project is to study the morphopathological characteristics of kidney lesions in cattle from different abattoirs of the Manabi Province, establishing the association of these alterations with the presentation of some diseases of zoonotic importance and as specific objectives: Describe the gross macroscopic alterations and classify them from the morphopathological point of view; To study the presentation of renal lesions in cattle slaughtered in different slaughterhouses of the Manabi Province; Establish the relationship between the macro and microscopic renal alterations present in slaughtered cattle and the possible diseases that may also affect public health.
The work focused on the post-mortem inspection of 154 pairs of bovine kidneys, in the beds of the Tosagua, Rocafuerte and Portoviejo cantons, and by means of observation, determine if they present any pathology and classify them according to their type of lesions, in a period of 15 days. days between each visit to the camales.
Of the 154 animals inspected post mortem, a considerable amount of kidneys showed macroscopic alterations 52.6% (81 animals), where the Portoviejo camal presented a higher percentage of animals with affected kidneys 67.2% (32 animals), followed by the camal de Tosagua with 47.8% (22 animals) of lesions and finally the camal of Rocafuerte that presented 47.4% (27 animals) to which macroscopic lesions could be observed.
Of the lesions studied it was possible to observe in the kidneys, lesions such as Renal Cysts with 53.1% of the total of kidneys observed, followed by diffuse interstitial nephritis, with 22.2% of presentation, Multifocal Interstitial Nephritis with 13 , 9% of presentation, Focal Interstitial Nephritis presented in 12.3%, then nephrosis with 7.4% of presentation and finally 3.7% of cases that had renal infarction.

El presente proyecto de investigación tiene como objetivo general el estudiar las características morfopatológicas de las lesiones renales en bovinos de diferentes mataderos de la Provincia Manabí estableciendo la asociación de estas alteraciones con la presentación de algunas enfermedades de importancia zoonótica y como objetivos específicos: Describir las alteraciones macroscópicas renales y clasificarlas desde el punto de vista morfopatológico; Estudiar la presentación de las lesiones renales en bovinos faenados en diferentes mataderos de la Provincia Manabí; Establecer la relación entre las alteraciones macro y microscópicas renales presentes en los bovinos faenados y las posibles enfermedades que pueden afectar también la salud pública.
El trabajo se enfocó en la inspección post mortem de 154 pares de riñones bovinos, en los camales de los cantones Tosagua, Rocafuerte y Portoviejo, y mediante la observación determinar si presentan alguna patología y clasificarlas según su tipo de lesiones, en un periodo de 15 días entre cada visita a los camales.
De los 154 animales inspeccionados post mortem una considerable cantidad de riñones presentaron alteraciones macroscópicas 52,6% (81 animales), donde el camal de Portoviejo presentó un mayor porcentaje de animales con riñones afectados 67,2% (32 animales), seguido por el camal de Tosagua con un 47,8% (22 animales) de lesiones y por último el camal de Rocafuerte que presentó un 47,4% (27 animales) a los cuales se pudo observar lesiones macroscópicas.
De las lesiones estudiadas se pudo observar en los riñones, lesiones como quistes renales con un 53,1% del total de riñones observados, seguidos de la nefritis intersticial difusa, con un 22,2% de presentación, la nefritis intersticial multifocal con un 13,9% de presentación, la nefritis intersticial focal presentándose en un 12,3%, luego nefrosis con un 7,4% de presentación y por último un 3,7% de casos que presentaban infarto renal.
