    " Actividad antiadipogenica e hipoglucémica del aceite de linaza (Linum usitatissimum) y del maíz morado (Zea mays l.) en pollos parrilleros".

    The study was carried out at the Rio de Oro site belonging to the Andrés de Vera parish of the Portoviejo canton, located on the blanket road Km 7 ½; in a 7m long and 5m wide and 3m high shed, the antiadipogenic and hypoglycemic activity of a purple corn extract (PCE) -100 mg / kg of food- and of different levels of flaxseed oil (Ali ) (0%, 2% and 4%), replacing palm oil, using 180 COBB 500 chickens, 28 days old, fed ad libitum with isocaloric and isoproteic balancing, and distributed randomly in the following treatments: control treatment (TC; 0 mg EMM and 0% ALi); treatment 1 (T1; 0 mg EMM, 2% ALi); treatment 2 (T2; 0 mg EMM, 4% ALi); treatment 3 (T3; 100 mg EMM, 0% ALi); treatment 4 (T4; 100mg EMM, 2% ALi); treatment 5 (T5; 100 mg EMM, 4% ALi); each treatment consisted of 5 repetitions of 6 chickens each; at 56 days of age, the productive performance of the birds was assessed, final live weight, weight and yield to the carcass, relative weight of the liver, heart and fat; Spectofometry was performed to evaluate the lipid profile: total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL and HDL, the HDL / LDL ratio and glycemia; for histopathological analyzes, liver samples were obtained; The results were processed using ANOVA, Completely Random Design (DCA) with 3x2 factorial arrangement, the differences between means were calculated using the Tukey test (p <0.05). The highest final weight was recorded in T5 (3283 ± 424.1); No significant differences were observed for carcass weight and performance, relative weight of liver, heart and abdominal fat; The HDL / LDL ratio was better at T 3 and 4 compared to the control group, while glucose, total cholesterol, triglyceride levels did not differ between treatments. These results suggest that the intake of EMM and Flaxseed Oil could exert an atheroprotective effect, favoring the weight of the birds, respectively, without modifying other productive and biochemical parameters.     This community work consisted of adapting the poultry sheds of the experimental center of Veterinary medicine-Lodana of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences. Being his main problem the lack of gutters in poultry sheds and the need to have a shed for the purpose of research at the FCV Experimental Center. The maintenance of the three were carried out sheds found in the experimental area, gutters and pipes were placed to prevent soil erosion in rainy seasons, the three sheds were painted, finally the internal infrastructure of the experimental shed was designed and built for research purposes, which has a changing room and cellar as well as divisions, 2 for the stage start and 12 for the fattening stage. The work was complemented with the maintenance of the water pump that supplies the sheds.

    The objective of this work is to provide technical advice on the adaptation of the agricultural tractor with its implements to the grass harvester of the Experimental Center #1 of Veterinary Medicine of the UTM. The methodology used was of a practical and bibliographic nature, which includes information related to the central theme, divided into 4 phases; diagnosis of the problem, restructuring of the agricultural tractor, cart and wooden box and completion. It was concluded that the arrangement of the cart allows the good handling of the agricultural machinery, guaranteeing greater durability for the benefit of time and personnel. The coupling of the agricultural tractor to the grass harvester occurred as expected and it was possible to verify the proper functioning of the agricultural tractor and its implements for the benefit of the livestock species of the Experimental Center #1, of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences.

    This community work is developed in the animal production department at veterinary science school of the Technical University of Manabí, and its main objective, the adaptation and improvement of poultry house # 2. Its purpose is to improve the physical structure and their surroundingswe proceeded to change and renovate big part of roof, walls and base,essential parts for the firmness of de structure. It renewed the floor with a very fine concret layer in its whole .it was renewed the electric section and the water tub from a container. With the propose for gire a good service to the beneficiers from that project. Besides it got the container with water drinkers and hall dinners to the goals wished. A winery was built to store food and materials to be used in the poultry house, what has a fridge; it will preserve vaccines and drugs for animal care We culminated with the removal of tree branches, what were located around the poultry house, and cleaning of it, its winery and its surroundings.

    ``Alteraciones clinìcas y lesiones anatomopatòlogicas compatibles con circovirosis porcina en hatos porcinos y en cerdos de traspatio "

    In order to demonstrate the presence of clinical alterations and pathological lesions compatible with PCV-2 Circovirus infection through the use of the clinical method and morpho and histopathological techniques in porcine herds and back pigs of Canton Tosagua and its parishes, a Epidemiological survey of 71 pig farmers in the region to assess their knowledge of the disease and know the pig population exposed. Similarly, clinical evaluation was carried out on 150 pigs of different ages and categories representing 25% of the total swine mass in the three (3) parishes that make up the Canton, on the other hand, macro and microscopic anatomopathological studies were performed 30 animals slaughtered or killed inspecting lungs, lymph nodes, spleen, liver, intestines, kidneys and skin of pigs that had symptoms compatible with PCV-2. The presence of clinical alterations was confirmed in 28% of the animals evaluated, being the most frequent manifestations in the respiratory 52%, gastrointestinal 52%, skin 38%, and most often the body condition (demeses) with 62% in relation to this organs and systems analyzed. The symptomatology is characterized by stunted growth and presence of marked spine, cyanosis in the skin, dyspnea accompanied by nasal secretions and diarrhea in different stages of evolution. In the frequency of macroscopic alterations, there was no significant difference between the lesions found, but the lesions that mostly occurred were those of the lung (83%), characterized by being of lobar distribution affecting the anterior lobes and the anteroventral part of the diaphragmatic. In other percentages of presentation were found lesions in the liver (67%), kidney (50%), skin lesions (47%), ganglion lesions (43%), intestines (37%) and lesions at the level of the spleen with only (20%). From the morphopathological point of view, generalized lymphadenitis with marked involvement of the inguinal and mesenteric nodes, catarrhal bronchopneumonia, focal lymphocyte dermopathy and interstitial nephritis accompanied by circulatory changes were observed. XVI These alterations may be related to the Post Weaning Multisystemic Depletion Syndrome (PMWS), but the epidemiological status of this disease is not known in the region studied or in the country, so the role of PCV-2 cannot be determined in the wide range of signs and lesions that occur in affected animals.     This work was carried out by means of the modality Community Work with the Department of Animal Production of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences of the Technical University of Manabí. The main objective was the Application of a System of Transport of Forage in the grass area Merkeron of the Department Animal Production of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences with the participation of a group of having involved. The approximate cost of the present community work is of 4.989,60 USD A group conformed by authorities, educational and egressad makes the decision of building a funicular one to transport the forage from the grass area Merkeron until the prick, since the only means exists it was the agricultural machinery, which demanded expense of fuel. Once finished the construction of the funicular one you greases the rail for the step of the pulley. You also proceeded to eliminate the overgrowth that hindered the step of the layettes.

    The present work was executed by means of the modality of Community work in the Department of Animal Production of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences of the Technical University of Manabí. The main objective was the application of a system of forage transport (funicular) in the Area of Grass King - grass of the Department of Animal Production of the Faculty of a group of having involved. The approximate cost of the present community work ascends to the quantity of $5.284,125 Together with the educational authorities and an egresados group took the decision of to design and to build this forage system, due to diverse factors that it hindered to transfer the forage from the production area until the prink, among these factors were: that in many occasions it is not had the agricultural machinery or it was not feasible its use due to personnel's lack for its conduction, lacks of fuel to more than that its use damages the new grass buds King - grass. Another factor was the faulty number of personal, mainly the weekend when he/she didn't have the machinery and the transfer of the forage was manual. Once finished the construction of the funicular one you proceeded to the I grease of the rail for the step of the pulleys with their respective layettes. Was it also endowed of ropes that were good to tie the forage baskets, avoiding their fall and in other cases to connect the layettes, some to other allowing this way to a single employee to transfer three layettes meetings.

    The objective of this degree work was the acquisition of materials and the topographical survey for the construction of the perimeter fence that will serve as a protective barrier for the Provisional Wildlife Ownership Center of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences. For this, a structural design of the area to work with a budget plan for the requirement of materials was elaborated in order to facilitate the organization and planning for future works, and in this way obtain a greater organization in the productive process and avoid the shortcomings The development of the project began with the purchase and collection of all the necessary metallic materials and from there it was possible to establish, standardize and streamline the construction processes of the structural elements, which would be needed, to erect on time and with the required quality, the enclosure to be built. Likewise, it was necessary to hire skilled labor in engineering tasks and the heavy machinery necessary for the cleaning and leveling of the land where the enclosure will be erected. It is concluded that the material collected and prepared will guarantee the normal development of another stage of the project. On the other hand, it was verified that the leveling tasks carried out guaranteed good topographic conditions of the land where the enclosure will be erected. Finally, it was verified that the prepared modules and the materials destined for the erection of the enclosure of the Wildlife Rescue Center comply with the necessary technical characteristics that guarantee the quality of the wall that is built, and in addition, they are properly stored and guarded.

    This project was carried out in the laboratory of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, located in the Canton of Lodana, the plan for this work was to advise the implementation of thermal equipment in the andrological laboratory in the extension facilities located in the Teodomira. The work was based on 2 parts, which were the compilation of information to carry out correct advice on the use of the respective equipment to be implemented, and as a second part or stage of the project, the quotation was made in different distributors to carry out the acquisition. of the same but managing to obtain the best devices in terms of price and quality, once the phases of the project were completed, these were delivered to the corresponding authorities, thus improving the quality of student learning, since with this equipment, the quality of learning in terms of laboratory practices will be improved.

    ASESORAMIENTO E IMPLEMENTACION DE COMEDEROS Y BEBEDEROS AEREOS EN EL HATO BOVINO EN LAS INSTALACIONES DE LA FACULTAD DE CIENCIAS VETERINARIAS, EN LA PARROQUIA LODANA DEL CANTON SANTA ANA EN EL ANO 2015

    El bienestar animal es el estado donde el animal está en armonía con el ambiente que lo rodea; es la habilidad para mantener sano y libre de sufrimiento al ganado, el bienestar animal está garantizado por varias libertades que son: Libres de hambre y sed, de incomodidad, de dolor, injurias, enfermedad, de miedo y de estrés. El proyecto que se llevó a cabo fué el asesoramiento en el diseño e implementación de comederos y de los bebederos aéreos que permitirá complementar el bienestar animal. El objetivo es asesorar el mejor diseño de comederos y de los bebederos aéreos para ofrecer mejor seguridad a los animales. El diseño de los comederos se hizo según las normas establecidas, ya que su construcción proporciona el espacio suficiente entre animales y permite una distribución adecuada de la ración alimenticia para los bovinos; los bebederos aéreos se diseñaron con equipos pendulantes y circulares, con materiales de resistencia y durabilidad, de fácil manejo, que permiten disponer de suficiente agua limpia y fresca; asimismo permitirá que el personal encargado de limpieza pueda vaciar el agua con facilidad ayudando a la limpieza del suelo del corral en el Departamento de Producción Animal. Se recomienda que los comederos para las vacas de producción se construyeran con 0,70 cm de largo entre animales, 0,45 – 0,50 cm de altura y 0,80 cm de ancho. Los bebederos aéreos de las vacas de producción se construyeron con 2,45 mt de largo, 0,60 cm de alto, 0,70 cm de ancho y con una capacidad de 2m3; asimismo que se realice mantenimientos frecuentes de los comederos y de los bebederos aéreos para prevenir daños en las instalaciones, también se recomienda la instalación de bebederos automáticos para el área de terneros con los requerimientos establecidos.

    ASESORAMIENTO E IMPLEMENTACION DEL AREA DE CORRALES PARA BOVINOS EN PRODUCCION DE LECHE DE LA FACULTAD DE CIENCIAS VETERINARIAS EN LA PARROQUIA LODANA DEL CANTON SANTA ANA

    El asesoramiento e implementación del área de corrales para bovinos en producción de leche de la Facultad de Ciencias Veterinarias y Zootecnia en la parroquia Lodana del Cantón Santa Ana en el año 2015; tuvo como principal objetivo asesorar e implementar una infraestructura que tiene de espacio 45 m2 el cual cuenta con una capacidad para 20 animales todo esto fue aplicando los métodos y medidas tomados de bibliografías para realizar la obra, y que proporcione la comodidad necesaria, con un adecuado manejo de los animales, el mantenimiento de la instalación y que sirva como modelo para las ganaderías de la zona, asociaciones ganaderas de la provincia y del país en general que quieran implementarlas en sus fincas. Tomando en cuenta para ello factores como: la localización del predio, el número de animales y costos, entre otros. El trabajo se realizó en tres etapas divididas en 6 semanas las cuales fueron: toma de medidas, limpieza de la zona, construcción de canal de drenaje y nivelación de suelo, colocación de las bases de metal y armado del corral. Trabajos de cerrajería y construcción e instalación de las puertas de ingreso, supervisión de la obra y funcionalidad de la misma. Finalmente se recomendó crear un buen programa para la correcta utilización de los bienes y continuar mejorando los aspectos para que el corral brinde mejor confort y seguridad a los animales

    The management of animals depends in a lot of part of the good plants in which impacts the construction and equipment which vary according to system of brood, for economic profitability and facilitate the management of animals, in the absence of roof. The objective was advice the implementation of the roof in this plant was identified through bibliographical studies, roof types providing comfort for rancher sector, it was suggested a comfort areas with materials appropriate, economics and durable to bring an area that facilitates future research to students and career teachers veterinary medicine and zootecnia and the technical of Manabí University. For this work measures the area where the roof was placed, having an area of 450 square meters was determined, coming to determine the following parameters for placement of the roof; central inclination was placed at a height of 5 meters high, with an inclination of the 10% after acquiring the material to use, making eleven rips of material to use, then proceed to sanding, painting and joining then. Recommended in nearby buildings use Alutecho material in order to reduce production risks by climate changes; also take into account the parameters of great importance for cattle farms in terms of roof covering is concerned. It should also encourage school student veterinary medicine to conduct studies that benefit productivity within these facilities.

    Counseling for Design and Implementation with sand beds in the new premises of the Faculty of Veterinary Science, in the Lodana parish of the canton Santa Ana in 2015, aims to implement appropriate infrastructures that provide the necessary comfort for a proper handling of animals, the maintenance of these facilities and serve as a model for many farmers in the area and the province who want to implement on their farms. Taking into account this factor as the location of the property, the number of animals, costs, among others. The project was conducted by students of the Faculty of Veterinary Science, in the form of community service graduation. The work was done in three stages which were: 1. Location and reconnaissance with the contractor of the work and students involved. 2. Site cleanup arrival of the material for the start of the work 3. Start of construction, reinforced concrete walls, locksmith works, painted separators bed in each cubicle filled with sand beds.

    The present community work was executed in the facilities of the Experimental Center of Veterinary Sciences, located in the Lodana parish of the Santa Ana canton, whose main objective was to advise the design and construction of an area destined for the implementation of a collection and control center for milk quality in the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences. For the development of the project, we worked with a methodology composed of a matrix of stakeholders, a tree of problems, objectives and alternatives and a logical framework matrix that allowed us to identify the need for an area for the collection and quality control of milk that facilitates the teaching - learning process; for which the construction of the milk quality collection and control center was implemented as an alternative solution, consisting of 17.50 m2 x 11.80 m2, according to the civil and architectural plans provided by the Department of Works of the Technical University of Manabí that will be destined for the areas of warehouse, office, laboratory, storage and a bathroom for the personnel in charge of the Experimental Center and students, having human, material and economic resources that were of great importance to carry out the execution of the project ; obtaining as final result the delivery of the work to authorities of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, the infrastructure has all the specifications required for this type of milk production and control, which will allow the respective equipment of the physical space. In general, it is recommended that this type of project be continued so that the Veterinary Medicine Career has all the necessary implements in the area built for the milk collection and quality control center.     "Asesoramiento para el diseño y construcción de un área de trabajo en el establo de ganadería bovina en el Departamento de Producción Animal de la Facultad de Ciencias Veterinarias"

    The objective of this work is to advise the design and construction of a work area in the cattle ranch in the Department of Animal Production of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences. The execution of this work was built in correspondence with the technically established parameters for the benefit of animal welfare. Prior to the execution of the construction, the area was recognized, then personnel trained and experienced in this type of work were hired. As a result, excavations of 60 x 60 cm holes were made in which the walls would be seated and 12mm beams were used. Next, the metal structure was cast using 30x20 cm square tubes previously painted. Filling and compaction of the area in which 14 land ditches were used, respectively the floor was melted using a total of 120 bags of cement. The work is 31 m long and 6 m wide, allowing the entry of the tractor to feed the animals. The sleeve is composed with a "V" shape with a height of 1.80 m, in which belts of 80x1.5 mm were used, to spaces of 6 cm between belts; starting with 0.40 m from the floor, increasing the distance gradually ending at 1m. This design allows the animals not to slip inside the sleeve and thus avoid any injury. On its inner side, it has a suspended scaffold at a height of 0.80 m, which makes it easier to carry out animal examination. For the structure of the roof, 80x1.5 mm belts and existing roof were used in the Faculty. Finally, the delivery of the work was carried out demonstrating its correspondence with the parameters technically established for the benefit of animal welfare to the corresponding Authorities. As a recommendation, farmers from the area should be invited to offer talks on cattle management.

    “Asesoramiento para implementación de la infraestructura de la granja porcina de la Facultad de Ciencias Veterinarias en el cantón Santa Ana”

    The assurance of an adequate zootechnical management and health status of the animals to ensure their proper production and reproduction, require a swine farm based on the parameters at the beginning of this paragraph mentioned. The lack of these conditions in the facilities of the pig farm of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences generated the need to develop the present project. In the diagnosis of the main infrastructure problems presented by the swine farm, the lack of masonry walls, windows and doors was identified in correspondence with the technically established parameters for the benefit of animal welfare and the adequate zootechnical management of the animals. Continuing with the previous work, to give shape to the pig farm, we worked with good quality materials, which guarantee the durability of the facilities.     Advising on the suitability of comfort floor in the feeding area of dairy cows at the Veterinary Science Faculty main objective was provide indication for the correct implementation of the rubber mat "LEGO MILANO AG-4" to maximize the comfort to dairy cows and also serve as a role model for the modernization of livestock areas in the province and in the country. In order to achieve this, several types of floors were identified by bibliographic studies, which provide welfare for the livestock sector. The creation of comfort zones designed with adequate, economic and durable materials to obtain an ideal space was suggested, it would also ease future researches lead by student and teachers of Veterinary Medicine career. To define the guidelines for the initiation of this process some factors were considered, like: geographic location, soil type, area conditioning, rubber mats placing projection, costs, and others; of the feeding areas. This work was divided into phases to ensure the assisting quality. It began with the management of actions that involved buying the rubber carpet "LEGO MILANO AG-4" model and other necessary materials for the correct placement of the carpet. Oversee the arrival of the material in perfect conditions to the facilities was the next step to continue with the process. Finally, do the projection of the corresponding location to place the rubber mats in the feeding areas where the dairy cows will inhabit, expecting that cow comfort increases and decreases podal pathologies.     “Asesoramiento para la adecuación del laboratorio de pastos y forrajes de la Facultad de Ciencias Veterinarias”

    The main objective of this project consisted in the advice for the adaptation of the pasture and forage laboratory of the faculty of veterinary sciences located in the Lodana parish of Santa Ana Canton. During the process a fume extractor hood was adapted in the forage laboratory from the faculty, a door was also built for the fume hood; a water pipe system was implemented and refrigerants from the condensation equipment were installed. Maintenance was provided by qualified personnel to the pasture and forage laboratory teams. The delivery to the authorities of the equipment was made to facilitate the practices of the teachers and students of the veterinary medicine career of the Technical University of Manabí.     This thesis project details the advice for the construction and installation of metal cages in the milking parlor in the bovine herd of the faculty of veterinary sciences, in the Lodana parish of Santa Ana canton. In which were carried out chronograms of work in specific areas to successfully achieve these adjustments, with the sole purpose of providing greater comfort to animals in production and reproduction, in order to achieve greater benefits to students of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and animal husbandry, in their learning and practical experience. The work was successfully completed and according to the technical specifications counting on; a waiting room construction for bovines, an area of machinery, vacuum tank and pump, mechanical tandem area, corridors with their respective individual feeders, ceramic placement in the pit or tandem. For the construction and installation of cages, it was built with galvanized material to give greater safety and durability in that place and also to perform good management and good practices in the milking of dairy cattle and thus achieve a milk of better quality
