VALORACIÓN DE LA RESPUESTA ACOMODATIVA EN ESTUDIANTES DE LA ESCUELA DE EDUCACIÓN BÁSICA PORTOVIEJO No25

This work was carried out as part of a population study that allows its o know the accommodative state in school patients aged 5 to 19 years. The accommodation is the mechanism by which the power of convergence of the eye increases to see clearly at a nearby point, when there are variations in it the accommodative anomalies occur, such as; inadequacies of accommodation, excess of accommodation, accommodative spasm, accommodation paralysis and accommodative inertia. A group of students who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria for conducting the research was evaluated, obtaining accommodation Lag values using the objective method of Nott retinoscopy. The normal range of the Accommodation Lag is between 0.25 D to 0.75 D with an average value of 0.50 D. The students evaluated presented a range below the average value of the accommodation between the ages of 13 and 15 years, and above this value in ages 11 to 12 years. This is due to the fact that most of the day the students carry out activities in near vision, taking into account the student day that is 5 hours a day in the Educational Institution and the tasks sent home, in addition to the use of electronic devices that require I work in close vision.
