ItemPROMOCIÓN SOBRE EL CUIDADO DEL ADULTO MAYOR A CUIDADORAS NO PROFESIONALES. PARROQUIA CHARAPOTÓ, CANTÓN SUCRE(Universidad Técnica de Manabí, 2020) CEDEÑO LÓPEZ, VERÓNICA ELIZABETH ; GILCES CHÁVEZ, CARLOS ALFONSO ; BRIONES BERMEO, NARCIZA PAULINANursing staff as educators and health promoters must use strategies and professionalism to reach people so that they can take care of their life and health. The objective of this work was to promote the care of the elderly to non-professional caregivers in the Charapotó parish, with twelve caregivers of the elderly from the El Pueblito commune. Through the application of the key informant technique carried out on the staff of the Charapotó Health Center and the community leader, plus the structured interview with non-professional caregivers, the problem under study was identified, such as the scarce knowledge about accident prevention in the elderly, the correct management of medications, care in eating, the lack of recreational activities and the deficient information on pressure ulcers. Given this lack of knowledge, an educational intervention plan was applied aimed at the group, with 96% attendance in the first two days and 98% on the last day of the training, obtaining a positive result from their attendance and participation. Upon concluding the intervention plan, it was possible to meet the objectives set in a satisfactory manner, likewise, it is recommended that the health and education authorities commit to promoting it and training its promoters respectively, while continuing to side to this age group as are older adults.
