In order to assess the perception of risk associated with the knowledge, attitudes and practices of the population of the Bellavista community in the Portoviejo canton in Manabí, an observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study was developed. The sample was constituted by 330 people. A survey of knowledge, skills and practices was applied. Data were processed using absolute and mean percentage frequencies and the chi-square test. Regarding the results, the ages between 41-50 years (27.8%) and between 51-60 years (21.8%), the female sex with 66.0%, the high school cultural level and basic education (33 .9 and 23.0 %) were the most outstanding. 77.5% have suffered from the disease. There was a high level of knowledge about Covid-19 in 45.7%. 70% consider that there has been adequate control of the pandemic, 60.9% have adequate practices in terms of biosecurity measures. When determining the perception of risk, 38.7% turned out not to have a perception of risk while 29.6% presented an overestimation of risk. The results demonstrate the need for educational strategies in the population studied.
