    Rediseño y acondicionamiento del laboratorio de microbiología de la Carrera de Acuicultura, Universidad Técnica de Manabí, extensión Bahía de Caráquez

    This project was carried out for the Aquaculture career program, Technical University of Manabí in Bahía of Caráquez, in order to redesign a Laboratory of Microbiology for study, research, experimentation and teaching of the career. The cost of this redesign was approximately U.S. $ 5,875.00, the main building materials were: cement, gravel, sand, iron rods, ceramics and more. The time for the project was nine months from March to November 2011. An architectural plan was developed, the mesons were built, and the walls painted. To meet the safety standards for a laboratory, the following were installed: • Ceramic countertops and floor sweepers to facilitate cleaning of the area; • 12,000 BTU Air Conditioner with respective electrical connection and protective cage, to acclimate the microbiology laboratory; and • Walls painted with oil paint or enamel, to facilitate their cleaning and disinfection, For two weeks, sampling was performed weekly from cultured pond water to carry out microbiological analysis on TCBS agar, selective for Vibrios. The results wen, a presumptive diagnosis of Vibrio alginolyticus (5000 CFU / ml yellow) and Vibrio parahemolyticus (6000 CFU / ml blue – green) in the cultured pond water sampled, with blue – green predominating.
