Abstract
El presente estudio busca entender la participación de adultos jóvenes en el sexting, mismo que se refiere a la actividad de enviar o recibir mensajes de texto, imágenes o videos con contenido sexual o erótico a través de teléfonos inteligentes u otros medios electrónicos. Se condujo una investigación entre los estudiantes de la carrera de Psicología Clínica de la Universidad Técnica de Manabí. La población consta de un 59,9% de estudiantes del sexo femenino. 52.83% (n=149) de los participantes indican haber enviado mensajes sugestivos a otra persona alguna vez en su vida, un 59,9% (n=169) han compartido mensajes sugestivos de otras personas, un 64,89% (n=183) ha enviado fotos o videos sugestivos de su mismo a otra persona y un 11% (n=31) ha posteado fotos o videos sugestivos de sí mismo en la red. Debido a la falta de investigación en esta área, la presente investigación permitirá a padres, investigadores y educadores tomar decisiones más informadas para entender como estos fenómenos cambian la forma de relacionarse en un mundo tecnológico.
Description
The main aim of the present study is to understand the participation of young adults and their attitudes towards sexting, which refers to the activity of sending and receiving text messages, pictures or videos with and explicit sexual or erotic content through mobile phones or other technological devices. The present study took place at Universidad Técnica de Manabí amongst the students of the career of clinical psychology with a 59,9% of female participants. 52.83% (n=149) of the participants have sent suggestive messages to someone else at least once in their lifetime, a 59,9% (n=169) had shared those messages with other people, a 64,89% (n=183) had sent pictures or suggestive videos of themselves to another person and an 11% (n=31) had posted online pictures or videos with explicit content. The most used app to practice sexting is WhatsApp. Due to the lack of investigation in the current subject this investigation is of great importance allowing parents, investigators and educators to make informed decisions about this phenomenon and how this technological era is changing the way in which people stablish their relationships.
