Abstract

The present work has as objective the implementation of equipment, materials and technical advice, of the biometric control of the Paiche (Arapaima gigas), in the Experimental Center 2 of the Veterinary Medicine Aquaculture area. In which the habitat where these organisms are found was evaluated, data such as weight, length (size), data on physical and chemical parameters of the pond water, including dissolved oxygen, temperature and pH of the water, were taken. The methodology used is divided into 5 phases: Diagnosis of the problem, acquisition of implements and equipment, start of the regulatory processing process, biometric measurement of the paiche and the last phase that includes the delivery of equipment to the authorities. It was concluded that the acquired equipment allows biometric measurements to be carried out, for the collection of physical and chemical data from the pool where paiche cultivation is carried out, demonstrating its functionality and usefulness for the development of scientific knowledge of the faculty. As a recommendation, it was mentioned to carry out technical visits with a specialist in these specimens to determine sexing, reproductive age, nutrition, possible diseases, among other parameters.
