Abstract
The situation of abandonment of older adults by family members has become very common in today's society, this type of action leaves older adults in a state of total vulnerability and creates abrupt changes in their affective state, however Thanks to the existence of Gerontology Centers in the country, there are older adults who manage to spend their days caring for someone else. The main objective of this investigative work is to determine the
level of the dimensions of the affective state in Older Adults as a result of abandonment by their relatives, also recognizing the affective characteristics that mostly shape their current state and identifying their situation of abandonment, thus relating their affective state with family abandonment at the MIES Santo Domingo Gerontological Center in the Tsáchilas province, through descriptive research, based on a qualitative-quantitative approach, with the application of the PANAS scale, interviews and bibliographic reviews. Obtaining as results that abandonment affects the affective state of older adults a lot, however, older adults have been able to adapt and improve their affective state through the care provided by the MIES Santo Domingo Gerontological Center in Tsáchilas Province, however it is recommended that the affective state of older adults must be constantly evaluated in order to maintain a good state of health in them.

La situación de abandono de adultos mayores por parte de familiares se ha vuelto algo muy frecuente en la sociedad actual, este tipo de acciones dejan en un estado de vulnerabilidad total a los adultos mayores y crean en ellos cambios bruscos en su estado afectivo, sin embargo, gracias a la existencia de los Centros Gerontológicos en el país existen adultos mayores que logran pasar sus días al cuidado de alguien más. Este trabajo investigativo tiene como principal objetivo determinar el nivel de las dimensiones del estado afectivo en Adultos Mayores a consecuencia del abandono por parte de sus familiares, reconociendo además las características afectivas que configuran mayormente su estado actual e identificando su situación de abandono, relacionando así su estado afectivo con el abandono familiar en el Centro Gerontológico MIES Santo Domingo de la provincia de los Tsáchilas, a través de una investigación descriptiva, basados en un enfoque cuali-cuantitativo, con la aplicación de la escala PANAS, entrevistas y revisiones bibliográficas. Obteniendo como resultados que el abandono afecta bastante el estado afectivo de los adultos mayores, sin embargo, los adultos han podido adaptarse y mejorar su estado afectivo a través del cuidado que les brinda Centro Gerontológico MIES Santo Domingo en la Provincia de los
Tsáchilas, sin embargo, se recomienda que el estado afectivo de los adultos mayores debe ser evaluado de forma constante para de esta manera mantener en ellos un buen estado de salud.
