Abstract
During the COVID-19 pandemic, many spheres of human life have been affected, including the family sphere. As a fundamental aspect of the human being, self-esteem can be impacted, especially if it refers to adolescents, since at this stage identity and self-esteem are more vulnerable to being impacted. The objective of this research is to identify the correlation between family functionality and self-esteem in adolescents during the COVID-19 pandemic; taking into consideration the adolescent members of the “Unidos por la Vida” club of the “Esperanza” project. A quantitative research approach and a descriptive-correlational design were applied. In the study, 35 adolescents participated, to whom a sociodemographic questionnaire was applied to describe the sociodemographic characteristics of the sample; the Family Functioning Questionnaire (FF-SIL), identifying their range of belonging to family functionality and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale to measure the level of self-esteem. As a result, it is obtained that the average of the adolescents, belong to moderately functional families, variations were found in the levels of self-esteem, the majority being located in a range of average self-esteem. Regarding the correlation of the variables Family functionality and self-esteem, there is no statistically significant correlation. No significant variations or association between family functionality and sociodemographic characteristics of the sample were found.

Durante la pandemia por COVID – 19 muchas esferas de la vida del ser humano se han visto afectadas, entre ellas la esfera familiar. Como aspecto fundamental del ser humano puede verse impactada, la autoestima, especialmente si se refiere a adolescentes, puesto que en esta etapa la identidad y autoestima son más vulnerables a sufrir impacto. El objetivo de la presente investigación es identificar la correlación entre funcionalidad familiar y autoestima en adolescentes durante la pandemia por COVID – 19; tomando en consideración a los adolescentes miembros del club “Unidos por la Vida” del proyecto “Esperanza”. Se aplicó un enfoque de investigación cuantitativo y un diseño descriptivo – correlacional. En el estudio participaron 35 adolescentes, a los cuales se les aplicó una ficha sociodemográfica para describir las características sociodemográficas de la muestra; el Cuestionario de Funcionamiento Familiar (FF-SIL), identificando su rango de pertenencia de funcionalidad familiar y la Escala de Autoestima de Rosenberg para medir el nivel de autoestima. Como resultados se obtiene que la media de los adolescentes, pertenecen a familias moderadamente funcionales, se encontraron variaciones en los niveles de autoestima, ubicándose la mayoría en un rango de autoestima media. Respecto a la correlación de las variables Funcionalidad familiar y autoestima, no existe correlación estadísticamente significativa. No se constatan variaciones significativas o de asociación entre la funcionalidad familiar y las características sociodemográficas de la muestra.
