IMPACTO EN LA SALUD DE LOS CHAMBEROS, BOTADERO MUNICIPAL DE PORTOVIEJO DE DICIEMBRE 2005 A MAYO DEL 2006

Abstract

The city of Portoviejo counts on a municipal botadero, the same that it is located to some 10 minutes of the city, in the route Portoviejo - the Rodeo, where is poured all the generated garbage of each one of households and establishments commercial so much, industrial and of health, converting this place in an auspicious environment for the vermin proliferation, rapine fowl, insects and other types of animals that they are ideal for the capable microorganisms reproduction of producing contagious diseases and to cause large epidemics. In this place is very notorious the presence of persons of different ages, above all children that they are obligated by their/its parents to accomplish the work of chambero, exposing them to a high risk for their/its/your/his health since accomplish it within municipal landfill without no protection, therefore emerged the need of accomplishing physical examination and laboratory analysis to each one of the chamberos in study, finding diseases dermatológicas, respiratory, gastrointestinal and other that they do not mention. Exist furthermore in these places other factors added to the problem of the garbage as are: drinking water lack, sewer, improper hygiene habits, low standards of living, etc. that also they are generating cause of diseases. Furthermore it is important to mention that in the accomplished investigations we find that these children do not attend to the educational centers, therefore the degree of illiteracy is notorious, constituting this a factor of development for the chamberos for the collection centers, since they do not have a clear knowledge of the value of their/its/ material recycled. With the mentioned precedents, emerged the initiative of investigating the socioeconomic problems in which is discussion this group of persons and their/its consequences so much for the chamberos and the population as a rule.
