Abstract
Pig farming is one of the activities that has been developing since ancient times as a source of economic resources that are the livelihood of many families, however, in recent years this activity has been influenced by various factors among which The production costs that this generates are included. The present investigation was carried out with the objective of including the chaya flour (Cnidoscolus aconitifolius) during the growth stage in pigs and to determine its influence on the productive and economic performance of the diets. To complete the investigation, four treatments were applied: T0 (control), T1 (10% Chaya), T2 (20% Chaya) and T3 (30% Chaya). In order to obtain the flour, the leaves and stems of the Chaya were collected, which were dehydrated at a temperature of 65 ° C and subsequently ground with the use of an industrial mill. The formulations to be used were previously established based on the requirements established for the line of mixed breed pigs. Food was supplied in the morning and afternoon, with a constant water supply. A weekly control of the weights of each of the treatments was carried out with the use of a digital scale, from which the calculations of the weight increase and feed conversion of each of the diets were performed according to each of the weeks. The analysis of the results was carried out by means of the statistical program Info Stat applying the variance assumptions (normality and homogeneity). The results obtained from the statistical analyzes show that the weekly weight at the end of the investigation for the T1 and T2 treatments presented significant differences with the T0 and T3 treatments, the latter reaching a weight of 57.51 kg and 57.62 kg respectively in each. Regarding weight gain, they show better results in T0 and T3 treatments with a total of 5.78 kg and 6.10 kg at 64 days (9_S). In the same way, the feed conversion was favorable for treatments T0 and T3 with a total of 2.52 and 2.40 kg / kg. Regarding production costs, treatment T3 shows that this treatment presents $ 1.20 more investment than the control $ 1.27, however, the productive yield is higher. In conclusion, chaya is an important alternative with good results in feeding pigs
