ItemDiseño estructural de la biblioteca general de la Universidad Técnica de Manabí con aisladores de bases(Universidad Técnica de Manabí, 2013) CEVALLOS MENDOZA, RICHARD ANDRÉS ; INTRIAGO CEDEÑO, IVÁN AQUILES ; MACÍAS BRAVO, JULIO DARLYN ; ZAMBRANO CAÑARTE, ANAYELI MONSERRATE ; GUERRA MERA, JUAN CARLOSBase seismic isolators elastomeric elements consist of a set on the structure, whose flexibility allows minimizing earthquake damage. The mega earthquake Chile February 27, 2010 it was clear that the structures with base isolators performed strongly not structures with shear walls built in the classical form. The objective of this research was to perform a structural design for the Library of the Technical University of Manabi seismic base isolators to counteract the seismic action. The objective of this research was to perform a structural design for the Library of the Technical University of Manabi seismic base isolators to counteract the seismic action. For the development of this research descriptive literature method was used to collect information on seismic isolators base, taken from books, magazines, brochures and important documents found for this purpose . As a result we find that the structural design was performed with seismic base isolators to counteract the seismic action in the General Library of the Technical University of Manabi, it was possible to collect a large percentage of bibliographic information about the insulators seismic database used in our country, the current structural design of this work was accomplished , and a seismic isolator is designed analytically using formulas, statistical tables and charts of the structure of this construction. The application of this type of insulators gets reduce accelerations and deformations of the superstructure eliminating structural damage. This system is suitable for buildings such as hospitals, clinics, schools, libraries, and they contain sophisticated equipment and whether or earthquake-proof buildings to withstand an earthquake, just the movement would cause equipment damage, causing perhaps not human losses but economic losses.
