ItemEstudio técnico económico para la extracción de aceites esenciales a partir de la sicana odorifera en la parroquia san antonio de chone durante el periodo 2017-2018(Universidad Técnica de Manabí, 2018) Arteaga Briones, Virginia Elizabeth ; García Díaz, Liz Denisse ; Piñero, AlexanderThe present work consisted of a technical economic study for the extraction of essential oils from Sicana Odorífera in the San Antonio parish of the Chone canton during the period 2017-2018. The Soma Odorífera known as giron fruit in the study community, is a peponid oblong fruit or pepon, almost cylindrical, up to 50 cm. long and 8 cm. in diameter, hard and resistant, which is usually used for direct consumption or for the production of sweets and juices. By submitting it to a process of added value can generate waste such as the husk that could be used as an essential oil. A diagnosis was made of the current situation of the inhabitants of the San Antonio de Chone community, identifying that the study population is mostly unaware of the benefits and nutritional properties and that essential oils can be obtained from their waste, for therefore, they are wasted. The extraction was carried out by means of different extractive methods in the laboratories of the Technical University of Manabí, reaching the conclusion that for each 1 kg of husks about 10 mL of essential oil can be produced, being the Soxhlet and the method by Steam drag the most recommended for use in obtaining this product. Finally, an economic study was carried out that determined that the project is profitable, because essential oils have a relatively high market price compared to the cost of the raw material that is practically discarded by people engaged in farming activities commercialization and added value of the fruit in the San Antonio community
