THE PRESENT INVESTIGATION WAS CARRIED OUT DURING THE MONTHS OF APRIL - AUGUST OF 2017 IN THE LABORATORY OF BIOTECHNOLOGY AND GREENHOUSES OF THE FACULTY OF AGRONOMIC ENGINEERING OF THE TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF MANABÍ WHOSE PURPOSE WAS TO EVALUATE THE RESPONSE OF TWO PLANTAIN CULTIVARS (BARRAGANETE AND CURARÉ) TO IN VITRO ROOTING AND ACCLIMATION IN GREENHOUSE CONDITIONS. THE TRIAL WAS DIVIDED INTO TWO EXPERIMENTS: THE FIRST EXPERIMENT CONSISTED IN THE IN VITRO ROOTING OF THE TWO PLANTAIN CULTIVARS THAT WERE GROWN IN MURASHIGE & SKOOG (MS) CULTURE MEDIUM SUPPLEMENTED WITH INDOLE BUTYRIC ACID (IBA) + ACTIVATED CARBON (AC) IN DIFFERENT CONCENTRATIONS AND COMBINATIONS, MAINTAINING THE CULTURES AT A TEMPERATURE OF 26 ± 2 OC AND A PHOTOPERIOD OF 16 HOURS OF LIGHT AND 8 OF DARKNESS FOR 30 DAYS, WHILE THE SECOND EXPERIMENT WAS BASED ON THE EX VITRO ACCLIMATION OF BOTH CULTIVARS UNDER GREENHOUSE CONDITIONS , IN WHICH THE VITROPLANTS WERE SEEDED IN GERMINATION TRAYS USING STERILE PEAT AS SUBSTRATE.
