ItemEfecto de la suplementación de aceite esencial de orégano (Origanum vulgare) sobre las vellosidades intestinales del duodeno en pollos de ceba. Estudio morfométrico.(Facultad de Ciencias Veterinarias > Carrera de Medicina Veterinaria, 2020) Bazurto Vera, Valeria Lisseth ; Solórzano Macias, Cristina KorinIn order to evaluate the effect of the supplementation of Oregano Essential Oil on the intestinal villi of the duodenum in broiler chickens by morphometric study, 400 chickens of cobb 500 genetic line were used and 60 birds were sampled which received a AEO supplementation at a rate of 100, 200, 300 ppm respectively, these were compared in two control groups which were composed of balanced + commercial AEO and balanced + bacitracin. 30 animals were sacrificed by the electrocution and bleeding method at 21 days of age and the remaining 42 days of having consumed the different treatments. For the macroscopic study, the samples were classified according to the degree of severity being mild, moderate and severe; Samples were taken from regions of the proximal, medial and distal duodenum which were fixed in 10% buffered formalin and processed by the classical inclusion technique, paraffin blocks and colored with hematoxylin and eosin; for the histopathological evaluation, the number of intact villi and the morphopathological changes present were taken into account; The morphometric study was performed with the help of AmScope 3.0 software. The results were processed in the R commander statistical package and ANOVA was applied; Significant differences were obtained in the proximal width variable of the treatment with 200 ppm at 21 days and in the proximal depth variable of the treatment with 300 ppm at 42 days, in addition, the same group with 200 ppm levels showed a good percentage of intact hairs. These results suggest that the use of Oregano Essential Oil produces structural changes in the morphometric and morphopathological indicators of the intestinal villi of the duodenum in broiler chickens undergoing this diet.
