THE COWPEA BEAN IS AN IMPORTANT GRAIN LEGUME THAT CAN MAKE A POWERFUL CONTRIBUTION TO IMPROVING DIETARY INTAKE (FOOD SECURITY) IN HUMANS. THE LOSS OF SOIL FERTILITY CAUSED BY OVEREXPLOITATION AND INADEQUATE SOIL MANAGEMENT IS A PROBLEM THAT AFFECTS THE HUMAN BEING, FOR WHICH ALTERNATIVES MUST BE DEVELOPED TO IMPROVE SOIL FERTILITY IN ORDER TO OBTAIN GOOD PRODUCTION. THE PRESENT EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH WORK WAS CARRIED OUT IN LODANA, SANTA ANA, MANABÍ, ITS OBJECTIVE WAS TO EVALUATE THE EFFECT OF THE DOSES OF CHEMICAL FERTILIZATION WITH MACRONUTRIENTS ON THE PRODUCTION OF THE INIAP 465 AND INIAP 463 VARIETIES OF COWPEA BEANS, THE TREATMENTS WERE DOSAGES NITROGEN, PHOSPHORUS, POTASSIUM AND SULPHUR. PLANT LENGTH, STEM DIAMETER, DRY MATTER OF BEAN ORGANS, NUMBER OF SEEDS PER PLANT, NUMBER OF GRAINS PER SEED, YIELD KG/HA AND AGRONOMIC EFFICIENCY OF NUTRIENTS WERE EVALUATED. THE RESULTS SHOWED THAT THE FERTILIZATION DOSE WITH 37-3.2-31-9 KG/HA OF N, P, K AND S, RESPECTIVELY, INFLUENCED THE DEVELOPMENT VARIABLES
