Procedimiento para la catalogación de material bibliográfico de la biblioteca del museo y archivo histórico de la ciudad de Portoviejo

Abstract

The process of cataloging within the area of sciences of librarianship is a question that measures dimensional aspects that are focused on the organization and representation of the search for the information that is contained and that is represented as a bibliographic fund within each library. The aim of the research is to analyze the cataloging process of the bibliographic material in its format and design applied by the museum library and historical archive of the city of Portoviejo, for which a methodology of qualitative and quantitative character is applied. bibliographic techniques, which allows the collection of information and the elaboration of instruments that are applied in the field study. The main results affirm that the library uses a cataloging system that is under construction in the digital environment. In this sense of the conclusion the library is framed in the processing of its catalog, using current regulations such as the Anglo-American Cataloging Rules, (RCCA), which are the product of schemes and organizational logistics within the library sector, and which propose standardization among local, national and international libraries.
