Importancia de las bibliotecas en las zonas rurales del cantón Portoviejo provincia de Manabí

Abstract

The public library is a fundamental task of continuing education in the field of knowledge and culture, they are called and established as a local port to the knowledge, becoming forever as a stand within its immediate surroundings for people learning; its importance lies in providing possibilities for development person, stimulate the creativity of individuals, in addition to promoting cultural diversity. The objective of this research was to determine the importance of public libraries within the rural áreas of Canton Portoviejo, through a qualitative-quantitative approach, using as techniques, surveying and interviewing in 4 rural parishes 2 that do not have a library as they are: Pueblo Nuevo and San Placido, and two where there exists: Riochico, Crucita, through the handling of precise data that could be applied in statistical calculations, the existences of public libraries and their importance of strengthening existing ones could therefore be concluded as indispensable, as they are a strut for the integral development of people, as well as fundamental axis for collective devolopment.
