Abstract
Rabbit production has been one of the activities that consists of the breeding, reproduction and fattening of domestic rabbits in order to offer meat with a high biological and protein value. The objective of the research was to evaluate the effect of the inclusion of different levels of efficient microorganisms in the feed in rabbits of the New Zealand breed in the growth and finishing stages. For the investigation, a completely randomized experiment design with a factorial arrangement with a total of 5 replicates for each sex (females and males) was used. The animals were divided into three treatments (0, 2.5 and 5% efficient microorganisms). The productive parameters weight, weight gain, feed intake, feed conversion, carcass yield and cost-benefit ratio were evaluated. In general, the inclusion of efficient microorganisms in rabbit feeding showed significant effects (p>0.05) on production yields, with treatment T2 being superior to the other treatments. The effect of microorganisms according to sex showed a higher performance in the T2 treatment for male rabbits with a weight of 2357.75 g, weight gain of 20.21 g/day and feed conversion of 21.52. In the same way, the inclusion of efficient microorganisms in 5% in the feeding of female rabbits presented a better performance in weight with a total of 2392.50 g, weight gain of 20.29 g/day and feed conversion of 3 .96. The economic profitability was better in the T2 treatment with a total of $1.16 (males) and $1.15 (females). It is concluded that the use of efficient microorganisms in the feeding of rabbits obtained a better performance in the productive parameters and economic performance. Keywords: feeding, rabbits, efficient microorganisms, productive performance.
