VALORACIÓN OPTOMETRICA A LOS ESTUDIANTES DE LA ESCUELA FISCAL MIXTA COLÓN MANABÍ DURANTE EL PERIODO DICIEMBRE DEL 2009 A JUNIO 2010

Abstract

Refractive errors such as nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism and ametropia are known as one of the reasons is due to defects in the curvature of the eye, preventing light rays are projected perfectly on the retina. These ametropia if not corrected in time can cause loss of vision. People who suffer from some type of ametropia symptoms such as headache, dizziness, burning eyes, visual fatigue, the diagnosis is confirmed by physical examination of the eyes, using Snellen, Safety Testing and retinoscopy. The main objective of this study was to evaluate optometric students from Columbus School Joint Fiscal Manabi, parish Portoviejo Canton Columbus, for the period December 2009 to June 2010 and the total for the population studied were 233 students. To do this we used a participatory approach, bibliographical, evaluative. Among the most relevant conclusions, we must be able to examine 100% of the population, found that 14% had visual problems, among which the spotlight was farsighted. In addition, information was provided personalized visual defects evaluated students to avoid complications and refractive errors in the future, as well as the handling and care of the lenses that were provided.
