LABORATORIO DE TERAPIA VISUAL INTEGRAL PEDIÁTRICO, UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE MANABÍ

Abstract

This work was carried out in the facilities of the technical university of Manabí, specifically in the area of visual therapy of the simulation clinic, where the general population can attend to receive care in different areas of health, which is provided by both students and the teaching staff of the institution. Focusing on the area of visual therapy, where we were able to establish the status of the diagnostic tests used there and determine which by means of its implementation could help improve patient care, we could also specify the need to have an exclusive area or laboratory for visual therapy, this due to the high demand for space and equipment that this entails for optometry laboratories. The results show that the visual therapy laboratory has a significant amount of diagnostic tests, which can be used for different types of therapy, however, due to the increase in the number of patients and practicing students, their need will increase with the passage of time, and also have to take into account aspects such as the obvious wear and tear of the passage of time for them. Likewise, it was determined that implementing new types of tests will mean the possibility of carrying out a greater number of therapy techniques and therefore increasing the options for carrying out the rehabilitation, all with the aim of improving the care provided to the patient. The visual therapy services provided in the simulation clinic are a great help, especially for those who cannot access a private service, so there is a need to increasingly improve the care provided there, given the impact that this service has for the general population.
