VALORACIÓN DE ASTIGMATISMO EN LOS ALUMNOS DE LA UNIDAD EDUCATIVA “PORTETE DE TARQUI” DE LA PARROQUIA COLON, CANTÓN PORTOVIEJO DURANTE EL PERIODO ENERO – JUNIO. 2011

Abstract

In the city of Portoviejo, Manabi province, took out a project entitled "Evaluation of astigmatism in the students of the educational unit" Tarqui Portete "of the parish Columbus, Canton Portoviejo during the period January- June 2011" Its general objective was to evaluate the astigmatism in these children and specific objectives were to determine the characteristics of the population studied, students identify study subjects with visual problems, evaluate astigmatism in the students of the Educational Unit "Tarqui Portete" , establish the lens-based treatment and training for teachers, students and parents on "eye care". The methodology for the development of research work was: Action research, in order to apply the matrix involved which did make the diagnosis of visual defects with the participation, collaboration and interest in carrying out the project all. The universe consisted of 270 students who have made a visual examination, and were 40 students with astigmatism (16%), to which the correction was performed through optometric supply of lenses to get a good school performance and better quality of life also trained teachers, students and parents on "visual health" for prevention of visual defects. It is recommended that the Educational Unit "Tarqui Portete" Parents and having in mind the topics taught in lectures on visual defects that have or can have their children brought forward by different causes and eye exams every so often. It was recommended to the public at large, take precautions to forewarn your eye health.
