Competencias de un bibliotecario referencista frente a la crisis sanitaria covid-19

Abstract

The results obtained in this study are intended to demonstrate the competencies of the reference librarian in the face of the health crisis due to COVID-19. The objective is to provide this information to professionals in the area, users of information and academic community; highlighting the role of the librarian who, since ancient times, and even more so in the knowledge society, continues to be a bridge between users and information resources in all their

formats. It is a qualitative research, which makes use of documentary techniques and semi- structured interviews. After the search for theoretical support, 6 librarians of the canton were

interviewed, using the interview instrument; this instrument consisted of 7 questions aimed at investigating the adaptations of their libraries to pandemic conditions. As a result, each library team adapts according to its possibilities and resources; Libraries must disseminate the services to be offered and know the criteria of users about the way libraries are coping and once they return to being present, libraries need to manage strict biosafety measures. Therefore, as a conclusion, this work constitutes a contribution to the knowledge and work of the library task in adverse conditions, and a starting point for the analysis of other adverse scenarios that demonstrate the adaptability and resilience of the library as an institution and the reference to the needs of users.
