FACTORES DE RIESGO PARA TRANSMISIÓN DE LEISHMANIASIS CUTÁNEA, PARROQUIA ANDRÉS DE VERA, PORTOVIEJO

Abstract

To determine the risk factors for transmission of cutaneous leishmaniasis in the parish of Andrés de Vera del Cantón Portoviejo. Leishmaniasis is caused by a parasitic protozoan of the genus Leishmania, which has more than 20 different species and is transmitted by an insect. More than 90 species of Leishmania transmitting phlebotyms were found. The disease occurs in three clinical forms: visceral leishmaniasis, cutaneous leishmaniasis and mucocutaneous leishmaniasis, is a public health problem due to its high incidence, morbidity and wide geographic distribution in the Andrés de Vera parish of the Portoviejo canton Methodology: The study corresponds to an observational, descriptive, prospective and cross-sectional investigation, where a survey was conducted on individuals living in the Andrés de Vera parish of the Portoviejo canton. Results: several factors were determined, the lack of knowledge of the vector, not having protection in the houses; mesh in windows and bed nets, the main ones.Conclusion: It is concluded that the living conditions in each family, poor protection in the home and personal protection, also contribute to the mosquito access to the person very easily and can bite him, transmitting the parasite
