"Suplementaciòn con un subproducto de pèrejil (petroselinum crispum) y cilantro (coriandrum sativum) y su efecto sobre la funciòn renal y el desempeño productivo del pollo de engorde, Lodana-Manabi-Ecuador".
(Carrera de Medicina Veterinaria, 2023-01-17) Bazurto Loor Cristhiam Alfredo. ; Cusme Abril Katherine Lisbeth.
The effect of coriander and parsley flour (HCP) supplementation on the productive performance and renal function of 192 Cobb 500 chickens reared at 2 densities, 8 and 10 birds/m2, respectively, was evaluated. At 28 days of age, they were randomly distributed into six treatments with 4 replications (T1= 8 birds/m2 HCP 0%, T2= 8 birds/m2 HCP 1%, T3= 8 birds/m2 HCP 2%, T4= 10 birds/m2 HCP 0%, T5= 10 birds/m2 HCP 1% and T6= 10 birds/m2 HCP 2%); generated by combining the factors: population density and HCP dose (0%, 1% and 2%). On day 42, and prior to a 10-hour fast, 2 animals were sacrificed per repetition. The results were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA), using a completely randomized design with a 2x3 factorial arrangement or the non-parametric Kruskal-Wallis test when the assumption of normality in the treatments was not met. The final weight (PF) was not modified by any factor under study (p>0.05). Weight gain (GP) (day 35-42) was higher (p=0.014) in the lowest density of birds (D1=8 birds/m2) compared to the highest density (D2=10 birds/m2), without modifications attributed to the HCP dose and interaction of both factors; however, supplementation with HCP registered an increase in cumulative weight gain (GPA) (p=0.030), meanwhile, feed consumption (days 28-35) was higher in D2 and in birds supplemented with HCP ( p=0.001), while in the interaction, the higher food consumption was reflected in T2 (p=0.001); Regarding feed conversion (CA), slaughter weight (PS), carcass weight and carcass yield, no significant differences were found (p>0.05). Likewise, the serum levels of sodium, potassium and calcium were not affected by the factors under study (p>0.05), although the levels of chlorine were higher in D1 (p=0.031) and lower in supplemented birds. with PCH (p=0.003). Regarding creatinine, its levels decreased in birds supplemented with HCP and reared on D1, but increased in birds supplemented with HCP and reared on D2. Finally, the density and inclusion of HCP did not affect the concentration for urea and creatinine kinase (p>0.05). It is concluded that HCP 1 and 2% supplementation improves GPA and feed intake (days 35-42), without modifying PF, CA, PS and carcass characteristics, while density 8 birds/m2 improved GP (days 35-42); and density 10 birds/m2 improved feed intake, meanwhile, HCP supplementation had a reducing effect on serum Chlorine levels and also on serum creatinine concentration in chickens raised at a density of 8 birds/m2.

"Asesoramiento tècnico para la instalaciòn de sistema de riego por aspersiòn y siembra de pasto estrella(Cynodon Nlemfuensis) de la Facultad de Ciencias Veterinarias".
(Carrera de Medicina Veterinaria, 2022-11-29) Cedeño Loor Jonathan Wilfrido. ; Guerrero Rodriguez Adolfo Papias.
The objective of this work is to provide technical advice on the installation of a sprinkler irrigation system and planting of star grass (Cynodon nlemfuensis), in the Experimental Center No. 1 of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences. The methodology used was practical and documentary, where bibliographic sources are cited about the most fundamental aspects of star grass and sprinkler systems. The practical form included the selection and preparation of the land, placement of pipes, sowing and fertilization of the forage, in addition to the verification of the executed process. It was concluded that sprinkler irrigation is a practical and efficient model in livestock practice, but it requires a high cost, so its implementation must be developed following the technical standards specified in this document.

"Asesoramiento tècnico para el mejoramiento de las vìas de las àreas de avicultura y apicultura de la Facultad de Ciencias Veterinarias".
(Carrera de Medicina Veterinaria, 2022-11-10) Bahamonde Torres Alexis. ; Saltos Palacios Karen Melina.
The present community work "Technical advice for the improvement of the roads of the Poultry and Beekeeping areas of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences" sought to make an improvement in the access roads to these different areas, by carrying out a theoretical-practical investigation and in turn advice with trained personnel. The development of this project began with the taking of measurements of the roads to be improved, giving a total of 600 m, after which the land was leveled using a vibrating roller, to build the sewer system the topography of the place was taken into account, where An excavation of about 3 meters was carried out to place the pipe that was obtained as the body of the storm sewer, then the sub-base layer was laid using granular material accompanied by hydration that improved good compaction when the vibratory roller was produced. Finally, the laying of the base layer was carried out using stone material, improving the support of road loads. For the construction of the sewer heads, concrete was used, taking into account the point of entry and exit of rainwater. The total investment for the development of this road project was $8,000.00 (eight thousand dollars) which was used to improve the 600m corresponding to the access road to the poultry sheds as well as the access road to the beekeeping center. With these improved access roads, an optimal vehicular and pedestrian passage was evidenced, for which a growth in the development of practices and research by teachers and students is estimated, as well as an increase in the use of these facilities through the participation of the communities that make up the Lodana parish.

"Detecciòn de los niveles de cortisol sanguìneo en bovinos destinados a sacrificio en el centro de faenamiento Municipal de Portoviejo".
(Carrera de Medicina Veterinaria, 2022-11-29) Bravo Rengifo Angie Michelle. ; Zambrano Pin Morelia Mishelle.
The objective of the research was to detect blood cortisol levels in bovines destined for slaughter at the Portoviejo Municipal Slaughterhouse. When developing the practical work of the investigation, 132 blood samples were taken from the jugular vein of the bovines landed at the slaughter center that came from different places in the province and outside it during 4 working weeks. The 132 samples obtained were separated and grouped according to age, sex and transport time to create the relationship between the resulting cortisol values and the variables. The results of the investigation indicated that transport itself is not the trigger for high cortisol production, as a whole, sex, age and the conditions of transport from the place of origin raise blood cortisol levels and in addition to this , there are more factors that contributed to the increase in these levels that were not studied, but they did influence each individual, such as the environment, physiological processes such as pregnancy, pathological processes such as infections, among others. The handling of bovines upon their arrival at the slaughter center is a key point prior to slaughter. The insufficient adequate conditions and the quality of life in their production and transport sites from these places to the slaughter center are the main causes of elevated blood cortisol levels in the bovines studied.
