After the earthquake on April 16 in Ecuador, in which many buildings collapsed, the lack of housing became an emerging problem for families who lost their homes, which caused them to take shelter in parks, or in places established by the government. , many others at the homes of relatives, or friends, who offered them help. For this reason, together with the Technical University of Manabí, we propose a basic housing alternative using native materials from the province and conventional construction materials in order to provide a housing solution for families affected by the earthquake. For the budget of the house in its structural system, that is, columns and beams were used of reinforced concrete, while in the masonry, crushed or chopped cane panels were used, covered with two layers of plaster and fixed to the structural elements by means of steel connectors.
