The objective of this study is to evaluate the relationship between eating habits and nutritional status in the elderly female, Teresa Sánchez Geriatric Center, IESS Portoviejo, to achieve the necessary fuel to determine food through the frequency method of food consumption, to then characterize the body composition according to the component of body fat and visceral by using the Electric Bioimpedance in the study population, then identify the influence of food nutrients on nutritional status. The theoretical method (historical-logical, analytical-synthetic) and empirical methods (scientific observation and measurement) were analyzed. The techniques used were the data collection sheet and as an instrument the OMRON body control scale and the modified food consumption frequency questionnaire (CFCA). The allowed results allowed to identify a considerable group of the sample under study is overweight and obese; a small percentage but very significant with normal weight and very high body fat and high visceral fat. The foods that consume more are eggs, meats, legumes, carbohydrates like foods for the diet of most of the studied population; However, there is a lack of consumption of milk, fish, dried grains and bread. The values of the relationship tables of the variables, are located at a level of significance greater than that established in the Chi-square R Pearson P < 0.05, which shows a significant relationship between food and the nutritional status of older female adults.
